► Working Principle
When the Nihon Kohden BSM-2301C Bedside Patient Monitor is turned on, the host CPU executes the program in the Boot ROM. According to the program, the host CPU checks whether the program card is inserted into the slot on the MAIN board. When the host CPU recognizes that the correct program card is inserted, the host CPU writes the program from the card to each system ROM. This is called Boot. Therefore, this Boot system allows you to upgrade the instrument without turning on the instrument. On the other hand, when the program card is not inserted into the slot, the host CPU switches from the Boot ROM to the System ROM on the main board and executes the system program.
► Replacement
Replacing the MAIN Board
Perform the following steps after the "Remove the Chassis Block" step.
1. Remove the 5 screws (including two M2 screws) securing the motherboard as shown below.
2. Lift the motherboard slightly as shown below and separate the connector on the motherboard from the connector on the analog board.
3. Pull the motherboard standoffs outward as shown below and pull the motherboard tabs upward to remove the tabs from the sockets.
4. Place the motherboard next to the chassis block and disconnect the power cable and NIBP cable from the motherboard.
5. Remove the 7 screws (marked with circles in the image below) from the motherboard and remove the shield cover from the motherboard.
